Privacy policy

This policy describes how Penta AI handles information in the Penta AI — Design Inspector Chrome extension and on this website. It covers the current extension, including page inspection, Website to Prompt, screenshot capture, saved projects and exports.

The short version

Inspection and prompt preparation happen locally in your browser. Penta AI has no account service, analytics SDK, advertising system, cloud synchronization or remote AI provider in this version. We do not operate a Penta collection server that receives your page captures. Some features request assets or pages from their original websites, as explained below.

1. Information we handle

When you activate Penta on a page, it reads information needed to inspect and describe that page: its URL, title, language and other metadata; rendered colors, fonts, dimensions, spacing and CSS; element labels; and image, SVG, font, video and other asset references.

Website to Prompt can also read visible page text, links, sanitized structural HTML, component geometry and readable stylesheet rules. Saved projects contain the source page URL and title, design observations, asset references and your edits. These are website-content and selected-page URL/title data, even when processed locally.

Penta does not request Chrome’s browsing-history permission, read your complete browser history, or automatically scan every site you visit. It does not read browser cookies or collect account credentials, payment details or device location. Pointer and keyboard events are used to operate tools such as Inspect and Ruler; Penta does not keep an activity log of your browsing, clicks or keystrokes.

Page content and URLs can themselves contain personal or confidential information. Only inspect pages you intend to capture, and review the result before saving or sharing it.

2. Website to Prompt & screenshots

Penta prepares an editable rebuild brief locally. It does not send the captured page to an AI service and does not require an AI API key. Generating or regenerating a brief reads the selected page again.

Structured capture omits current and default form values, placeholders and private editable text. Optional screenshots mask supported form and editable areas. Other visible text and images remain in the capture; these safeguards do not guarantee that every kind of sensitive content will be removed.

Reviewed briefs and screenshots remain in the panel’s memory unless you choose to copy or export them. They are not automatically added to saved projects. A reference pack contains your edited brief, source observations, asset URLs and selected screenshots; it does not automatically fetch and bundle all original website assets.

If you upload an export to an AI coding assistant or another service, that is your separate action and that service’s privacy policy applies.

3. Storage & retention

  • Temporary work: current scans and pending selections use Chrome session storage; open briefs and screenshot data use panel memory.
  • Preferences and saved projects: these use local Chrome extension storage on your device. They remain until you delete them or uninstall the extension. Penta does not sync them to a Penta cloud account.
  • Downloaded files: exports, assets and project backups are saved where you choose. They remain on your device until you delete them separately.

Saved records and exports may contain source URLs with query parameters. Review them carefully before sharing, particularly when working on private pages.

4. Network requests & sharing

Asset previews and requested asset or font downloads may contact the original websites hosting those files. ZIP asset requests omit credentials and respect cross-origin access restrictions. The device preview loads the selected page and can make normal page requests, including that site’s usual session requests. These websites handle requests under their own policies.

If you choose the font-search action, Penta opens a Google search for the selected font family. The search provider receives that query. These actions do not upload your full inspection report to a Penta server.

We do not sell user data, send page captures to advertising or analytics services, or automatically share exports with third parties. Copying, downloading, backing up and sharing material are actions you control.

5. Chrome permissions

activeTab
Temporary access to the page you select, including screenshots you explicitly request.
scripting
Run the page scanner, element selector, floating panel, ruler, device preview and capture tools after activation.
sidePanel
Show Penta’s inspection interface beside your webpage.
storage
Keep temporary scans, preferences and projects you choose to save.
downloads
Save the design files, backups and supported assets you request.

The extension does not request persistent permission to inspect all websites in the background.

6. Your choices & deletion

You decide which page to inspect, whether to capture screenshots, what to save and which exports to share. You can cancel an inspection or capture, remove screenshots before exporting and edit your brief.

Delete individual projects in Saved Library, or clear all saved projects in Settings. Uninstalling Penta removes its extension-local data. Downloaded files and copies shared with other services are separate: delete those files yourself or use the receiving service’s controls.

Because there is no Penta cloud account or collection server for these records, we do not have a remote copy of your local projects to retrieve or delete for you.

7. Limited Use commitments

Penta AI’s use of information received through Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

  • We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties outside the policy’s approved use cases.
  • We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to Penta’s single purpose: inspecting and exporting website design information.
  • We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

8. This website

The live inspection demo reads this website’s computed styles and prepares copied values and downloadable files locally in your browser. It does not send its inspection results to a Penta server.

Website hosting and delivery providers process ordinary network-request information, such as IP addresses and requested pages, to deliver and protect the site. The custom-domain site is hosted on GitHub Pages; GitHub’s handling of this information is described in its privacy statement. If you visit a separate ChatGPT Sites preview, that platform’s hosting and access practices apply instead.

This website’s own code does not include advertising or analytics trackers. External links take you to services with their own privacy practices.

9. Updates & contact

We will update this policy when Penta’s data handling changes and show the revised effective date here. Changes that require an additional disclosure or consent will be presented before the new data use begins.

For privacy questions, use the developer contact provided on Penta AI’s Chrome Web Store listing. Please describe the issue without sending private page captures, passwords or access tokens.
